A short while ago a twenty-six year old mother got a little more than she bargained for when she went into labour at her local Gala Bingo club in Glass Houghton. The young mother, now of two, went into labour and was mere minutes away from delivering the baby in the toilets at the Gala Bingo club; she really believed that she was going to have the baby there and then.

But Gala Bingo staff who could see the baby’s head, went into action and called an ambulance.

The young mum hadn’t realized that her waters had broken and she went for a game of bingo on a Friday afternoon. She says that she was happily playing a game of bingo when all of a sudden she was in so much pain that she didn’t know what was happening.

She went to the front of the house and told someone that she thought she was having her baby, their first aider told the bingo club manager that she could see the baby’s head presenting. Even the ambulance team was considering delivering the baby in the toilets but fortunately they got her to hospital in the nick of time and she delivered a little girl safely twenty minutes later.
