No “Pennies from Heaven” is not a new song or a new bingo game on offer from Gala Bingo, the Gala Coral group have announced they are joining forces with these coin collection experts to raise even more funds for their charity of choice, Sue Ryder Care.

The Coral Group has five divisions including Gala Bingo as one of the biggest, employing a total of 19 000 employees. They are giving all of their employees the opportunity to donate the pennies that are on their pay-slips to Sue Ryder Care through the “Pennies from Heaven” scheme. All they have to do is sign an authorization form and the pennies (which buy nothing anyway) are automatically deducted, across 19 000 employees, this could add up to a great deal of pennies. In fact it has been said that if all Gala employees donate all their wage slip pennies for an entire year, they will raise more than £150 000.00.

The Corporate Responsibility Manager of Gala Coral Group, Dr. Colin Morgan, said this was a fantastic way of raising money for Sue Ryder Care, and as employees decided this was the charity of their choice, if they don’t miss the pennies on their wage slip, then why not give them away.  The maximum donation per pay-slip will be 99p and this is one of the many initiatives being used by Gala to raise ₤1 million over the eighteen months from June 2008 to December 2009.
