Bingo Hall to be Re-opened as a Pub
JD Wetherspoon the massive pub franchise is set to spend £2.6 million pounds to convert the old Hayweights bingo hall in Musselburgh into one of it pubs. The historic building will be transformed into an art-deco style pub that will create forty new jobs in the area.
After much haggling and despite the fact that a local councillor, Roger Knox has said that the new pub would have bar prices that were too low (sic) and the building would not complement Brunton Hall a nearby hostelry, the members of the drinks licensing committee granted a licence to JD Wetherspoon. Much to my dismay the pub chain has agreed not to promote any happy hour deals.
The bingo hall has been closed for two years now, and it has been said that the hall closed down due to dwindling numbers after the smoking ban, so I am sure that the locals will be pretty excited to have some form or entertainment back in the area. The Pub chain is hoping to have the building renovations completed by in the next few months and wants to have the pub opened by July. Who knows, perhaps they will even organise a few bingo evenings for the local pub-goers?
